Hymn Festival with Paul Soulek

Sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission, KS

Dear Christians, One and All, Rejoice

A hymn festival celebrating our Triune God’s creating, redeeming, and sustaining love.

Paul Soulek, guest organist

In celebration of Trinity’s 85th anniversary and the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed, guest organist Paul Soulek, student brass players from Concordia University Nebraska, and the Trinity Choir will lead us in a hymn festival including hymns, anthems, reflections, scripture, and prayer.

Soulek, a hotdish-loving Minnesota native, is Cantor of St. John’s Lutheran Church and School in Seward, NE. He also serves as adjunct professor of music at Concordia University, Nebraska, and as cantor for the Lutheran youth organization Higher Things and its summer conferences. He is a graduate of Concordia, Nebraska (Bachelor’s, 2007) and Concordia Chicago (Master’s, 2015). When not making music, Paul enjoys spending time with family and friends, undertaking home renovations, and enjoying the natural wonders of Nebraska.

At a hymn festival, you can expect lots of congregational singing. Most of the hymns will be familiar to Trinity worshipers, while a few will be new. The musicians will help you learn the new hymns and will bring new life to the old favorites through creative musical accompaniments. The service will last around an hour. We hope you will join us!

Together We Sing!

Sponsored by Village Presbyterian Church.

Dear GKCAGO friends,

You are cordially invited to "Together, We Sing!", a concert of American music that will take place at Village Presbyterian Church  (Sanctuary) on Monday, October 20 at 7:30 pm. 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208

What are the pieces, you ask? You'll be treated to Howard Hanson's "Song of Democracy" (accompanied on organ!) and Alice Parker's "Melodious Accord."

Who are the performers, you ask? Several adult choirs from the Village Pres Mission and Antioch campuses are teaming up for this concert, accompanied by brass quartet, harp, and organ.

What's the purpose, you ask? We are celebrating gorgeous American music AND raising money for the Village Church Food Pantry and Clothes Closet. The concert is totally free, of course, but retiring offerings will be collected for that beneficiary.

What if I have squirmy little people, some might ask? Squirmy little people are more than welcome at the concert, but there will also be childcare for kids 6 weeks to 8 years old provided by the church. No need to even sign up for it!

These pieces are timeless, really. Their harmonies and lyrics are incredibly inspiring, and we can't wait to share them with you.

Sincerely,

Drs. Elisa and Josh, co-directors of music ministry at Village Presbyterian Church

Paul Fey In Concert

Paul Fey at the Basilica St. Peter

Sponsored by the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Paul Fey – Organist, Composer & YouTuber

Paul Fey is a German organist, composer, and YouTuber, born in 1998 near Leipzig, Germany. His musical journey began in kindergarten with early childhood music education, followed by classical guitar and piano lessons.

At around age 15, he discovered his passion for the pipe organ in his local church and began studying the instrument intensively. He initially took lessons with A. F. Kipping and later studied under Stefan Kießling, the former assistant organist at the Leipzig Thomaskirche.

After completing a three-year commercial apprenticeship at MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk), Fey decided to pursue formal studies in church music at the University of Music in Halle (Saale). He now works full-time as a musician, composer, and YouTuber.

Since then, he has served as the repetiteur for the Kurrende groups at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, where he collaborates with the church’s children’s choirs and the church choirs.

Fey gained international recognition through his popular YouTube channel, where he regularly uploads organ performances and original compositions. His videos attract over a million viewers each month, helping him build a global fanbase.

As a composer, Paul Fey has published several collections of organ music for occasions such as Advent, Christmas, Easter, and general festive use. His works are known for their melodic clarity and accessibility and are available worldwide.

Paul Fey stands out for combining traditional church music with modern media, making organ music more approachable—especially to younger audiences. His performances reflect both reverence for sacred music and a fresh, engaging style that marks him as one of Germany’s most innovative young church musicians.

The Mark of Zorro!

Kansas City Theatre Pipe Organ

~~ presents ~~

Dr. Marvin Faulwell’s return to the Music Hall at the Robert Morton Theatre Pipe Organ!

"The Mark of Zorro" is a 1920 American silent Western romance film starring Douglas Fairbanks and Noah Beery. This genre-defining swashbuckler adventure was the first movie version of The Mark of Zorro. Based on the 1919 story The Curse of Capistrano by Johnston McCulley, which introduced the masked hero, Zorro, the screenplay was adapted by Fairbanks (as "Elton Thomas") and Eugene Miller.

Bring your friends and family for an afternoon of great music and comedy -- especially those who may never have seen a classic silent film the way it was really meant to be seen!
